Newborn Home Visitation Service


The Graham County Department of Public Health provides the Postpartum/Newborn Home Visitation service to postpartum women and infants in Graham County.  This visit includes, but is not limited to assessment, counseling, education and referrals to other providers if required.

Home visitation is an integral part of the health care system to help ensure the health status of new mothers and their infants.

Whooping cough (pertussis) is serious at any age, but islife-threatening to newborns and infants who have not completed the series of

vaccinations that would protect them from whooping cough. Each yearhundreds of infants are hospitalized for whooping cough.

Some infants die from it.
