The Building Inspections Department is charged with the responsibility of providing for the public safety, health and general welfare for the Citizens of Graham County and in turn, the general population. Our primary objective is to accomplish that end through Code enforcement.

Our secondary objective and responsibility is to properly enforce laws and regulations as legally adopted by governing bodies of both County and City Watershed Ordinances, 911 Addressing Ordinances, Flood Plain Ordinances and Fire Protection Ordinances.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Duties and responsibilities shall be to enforce within our territorial jurisdiction, State and Local laws relating to:

- The Construction of buildings and other structures;

- The installation of such facilities as plumbing systems, electrical systems, air conditioning and heating systems

Our duties shall include the receipt of application for permits and the issuance or denial of permits, the making of necessary inspections, the issuing or denial of Certificate Of Compliance or Occupancy, the issuance of Orders to correct violations, the bringing of Judicial actions against actual or threatened violations, the keeping of adequate records and any other actions that may be required in order to adequately enforce the Building Code Laws of this State.
